New Asus ZenFone smartphone certified by TENAA

A new Asus ZenFone smartphone by the model number Z00EDB has been certified in China by TENAA. While it does follow the same design as the ZenFone 2, it isn’t the same as it has what looks like an IR blaster or IR tracker for the camera.

Some sources have reported the phone as the ZenFone 3 but we aren’t sure whether it actually is. The ZenFone 2 is still pretty new to the market and this is likely to be an updated version or a slightly different model.

The phone has a 5 inch display with 720p resolution. It is powered by a 64bit quad-core CPU clocked in at 1.2GHz and Mali GPU. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded using a microSD card slot.

The main camera is an 8 Megapixel unit with a dual-tone LED flash and 5 Megapixel camera on the front. The handset will support 3G and will come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop. It apparently has a metal construction and will be available in White, Black, Red, Blue, Purple, Gold and Silver.

OnePlus to 'Shake Up the Industry' on Monday, OnePlus Two Launch Expected

OnePlus has long been expected to launch its next smartphone in the second half of this year, and now the company has teased a launch of the OnePlus One successor, thought to be called the OnePlus Two, on Monday

The Chinese firm on Tuesday teased the launch, saying "We're always looking for ways to shake up the tech industry. And we think it's time for change. Find out more June 1." While the OnePlus teaser does not directly mention the next smartphone, the image accompanying it (seen above) shows a half-drawn half-rendered OnePlus One smartphone with the caption 'Time to change', definitely hinting at the launch of the next smartphone. The teaser also comes days after the OnePlus Two was alleged spotted on two benchmark tests.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau earlier this month also gave clues on the handset's price and processor. The CEO asked his followers on Weibo what price tag the OnePlus Two should sport if it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC. After receiving several answers, Lau agreed with some of his followers who had suggested a price of CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,000). Lau had asked, "If OnePlus Two comes with Snapdragon 810, what do you think will be the price?" and then later replied, "2,499 Yuan seems to be a reasonable price."

As per the more recent benchmark test, the upcoming OnePlus Two would feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor; 3GB of RAM; full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display; 5-megapixel front camera, and Adreno 430 GPU. Also tipped is a 13-megapixel rear camera, 3300mAh battery; 4G LTE; GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB and OTG connectivity. The benchmark test from last week also suggested Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box.
